Beer Marinaded Hot Dogs

Some people have said this sounds disgusting. Those people have not tried this.

The beer adds so much flavor and moisture to the hot dogs, while the maple syrup and aromatics create the most complex tasting hot dog you've ever had. Plus, all that marinade grills up to a sticky perfection. Once you try this, you'll never go back to basic dogs.

You'll need:

8 hot dogs

12 oz of your favorite lager beer

1/4 cup Trees Knees Spicy Syrup

5 whole cloves or 1/2 teaspoon ground cloves

1/2 teaspoon mustard seed

2 garlic cloves, smashed

A few sprigs of thyme

Gently mark the skin of the hot dogs with a knife. Don't cut through, just make small slits for the marinade to penetrate. Store prepared hot dogs in an airtight container.

Add everything except the hot dogs to a pot over high heat. As soon as it boils, remove from heat and pour over the hot dogs. Store in the fridge over night.

Fire up the grill and prepare as normal. I like to dress mine with garlic confit and grilled onions, but crunchy red cabbage or crushed Doritos are excellent too. Go wild!
